Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon that happens every two or three days during the spring and summer months. The Staircase is caused by the tide rising and falling twice per day. When the exposed tidal flats are high, the water level is higher than normal, and the moonlight shines directly onto the flat surface of the bay.
