Easy Italian Meatball Sub Sandwich Recipe
This meatball sub sandwich recipe is easy to follow and customize. The perfect lunch or dinner for any time of the year!
For the meatballs:
- ground beef (85% lean)
- Italian bread crumbs
- grated Parmesan cheese
- garlic cloves, minced
- olive oil
For the subs:
- Italian bread rolls, sliced in half lenghtwise
- Marinara sauce
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, combine beef, Italian bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic cloves, egg, salt and pepper. Mix well using your hands.
- Form mixture into meatballs (about 24-26).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add meatballs and cook until browned all over (about 15 minutes).
- Assemble subs by spooning meatballs and sauce onto the roll bottoms, then topping with mozzarella cheese. Place on a baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for about 15 minutes until cheese is melted and subs are heated through.
- You can use any type of ground meat, such as pork, turkey or chicken.
